Stairs

I'm sure everyone knows by now about Adam's new favorite hobby: climbing stairs. The best part is how he's generalized lifting his foot up a giant step and not putting it down--he'll lift his foot two feet before he gets to the staircase, or when he's sitting on my lap next to the table, or just any time he thinks he can lift his foot above whatever's in front of him. It's an important stair climbing skill, though, and here we see it in action.

Number 9

It was amazing--their children's room is quite literally larger than our entire local library put together, with many, many lovely books. They also had a book I was dying to read sitting right there to take. Overall, a great trip, and a successful countdown!

Today, I was going to go over to the good playground near Greg and Liala's, but he seemed like he might be getting tired. So we walked over to our local part, where Adam LOVED the swings, and insisted on getting back in when I tried to take him out. Now it's time to try nap #2--wish me luck!

Weekend with the Grandparents

Handsome fellow was a blur this weekend! I think these are the only three photos where he's not a blur of motion. He has had a couple of rough nights of sleep, but he's been a charming fellow during the day, and I think Grandma and Gramps had a good time, as long as they let Adam keep moving.

Number Eight

Adam and I had a Grand Adventure today. Wearing his Spiffy New Sneakers, he came with me on a hunt for the Chelsea Public Library. We found it, then got a little lost trying to find a place to park in a land of one way streets and steep hills.

Eventually, though, we found our way there. We had the Children's Room all to ourselves. Adam dragged his feet around in the clunky new shoes. It was really hard at first, but he got better and better, and by the end, he was almost as spry as his barefoot self.

The library is a storehouse of all kinds of books that Disney made into movies 40 years ago, and I ended up checking out Polyanna and Escape to Witch Mountain, just because I recognized them. But mostly we had fun wandering around the room.

All hail library #8! Two more to make our goal of 10 libraries by his first birthday. Wish us luck.

The Weekend

Somehow, we didn't get any still shots with Steph! I have some video, though, and I'll post it later. For now, photos from Steph's camera.

We had a couple of really nice long walks in the good weather this weekend. We walked over to Bertucci's for lunch on Saturday.


Adam drank some water, chilled out, ate some bread, threw up (not as bad as it sounds). We had a nice time.


On Sunday, we went for a walk with Steph, Brenda, and Jason. We were going to go to a little fair that Medford was having, but it wasn't really baby-oriented. Still, we got a lovely walk along the river out of it.

We enjoyed the weather this weekend very much, and it was great to have Steph and Chris in town for a visit! Very laid back and fun. Adam always likes having someone new to play with.

I can't believe I didn't post a picture yet of Adam in his new PJs. He got them a while ago, but he just started wearing them, and they fit perfectly. They were a gift from Elisa. Coincidentally, you can see in this photo that he's also chewing on a piece of the puzzle Amy gave him.

Theo has pajamas like this, and I think they're absolutely adorable. There's an elephant on the front. And they're yellow. I'm learning that I like yellow.

I have some good photos from this weekend, Steph and Chris's visit, etc., but they're on Steph's camera, so they'll have to wait till she emails them to me. Consider this a reminder!

I Promised Swinging

There's been some sad news in our family today, so I thought that it might cheer people up to see some photos of Adam having fun at the playground.

We went with his friend Kieran, who is almost exactly Adam's age.

I'm afraid I didn't get any great photos, but he had a lovely time. He's really grown into swinging, and it made him smile a lot. The slide was a little more unnerving, but he handled it better than I would if someone subjected me to unexpected (albeit gentle) plummeting.

Nana's in a car on the highway right now; when she sees this post, I hope she knows we're thinking of her, and of all the Abbotts and Vassilakoses and Spains tonight.

This Weekend: A Wedding!

I still have my temporary tattoo on my arm from Krista and Mike's wedding. Congratulations to the happy couple!



And yes, that is Auntie Marsha conducting the ceremony. She did an amazing job--dignified and lighthearted in just the right balance.
