What can I say?  It's what we do with our time.

Pumpkin Carving, Day 1

I know that I'm a terrible disappointment, since I only managed to get through 4 pumpkins yesterday.  Sorry, Marsha!  But Adam had a blast.

Auntie Marsha carved him his own windmill.

Adam played with the safety carving knives--he loves knives, so I think he found it very satisfying to be allowed near one for once!

But mostly  he drew on his pumpkin.  He made a very elaborate picture--it was quite impressive.

More carving to come on Saturday, but we've begun the season!

Playground Pics

When I finally offloaded the camera after my little hiatus, I found some really great photos, lots and lots (and lots) of them from various trips to the playground.  So without further ado: Adam and his friend, the Big Windmill.

This last one is from our breakfast picnic.  We got up one morning and neither of us wanted cereal, but Adam wanted to go to the windmill at 8am.  So we ran by Dunkin Donuts and got some muffins and OJ, and we ate them at the base of the windmill.  It was really, really wonderful.

I have so many more playground pictures; you're going to be seeing them for some time.  I'll keep busy with these, and with some more New Haven photos, until the time comes for Halloween pictures this weekend!  Which reminds me: need candy!

And We're Back!

Back both literally and figuratively--we were in New Haven for the weekend to see Steph and Chris's new apartment and for a general visit with the Tomasulos.  Figuratively, though, my computer's been down for a couple of weeks, and I've been lousy about updating.  Sorry fans!
We went to the Peabody Natural History Museum, which is having an exhibit on
black holes that was pretty cool.

The dinosaur bones were a big hit.   "So big!"

Also a hit was his new piano book.  "Piano!"

We learned the fist bump...

...and had a sundae at Friendly's.

It was a great weekend, good food and good company.  Adam was very excited to see Grandma and Gramps and Stephie, and whenever one or more of them left the premises, he asked after them.  He ran all over the place in his jammies, barely sitting down.  Full of beans, tons of fun.  Thanks, guys!

For all the Tomasulos who were hoping to see Adam this weekend, hopefully this will get you through till we see you in a couple of weeks!

Slow Picture Week

My computer is giving us problems, but rest assured that I'll be posting some really, really great videos soon.  As of right now, though, Adam's sick and the rest of us are coming down with it, so we're hunkering down for a weekend of suffering.

But I wanted to say that I'm seeing Adam have a better and better time at day care.  He's enjoyed it all summer, but things are all changed up this month--four of the six kids moved on (to kindergarten or Connecticut or another center that has more hours), so there are a bunch of new kids at school.  There are way more boys, and instead of being the youngest, Adam's tied for second oldest (I think).

Yesterday Adam napped on a mat with the big kids, instead of upstairs in a crib, and he did great.  When I went to pick him up at the park, instead of swinging or sitting under a tree, he was climbing on the bus-make-of-pipes with two other kids, shouting about buses and sirens and beeping horns.  He was having SO much fun.

I had been a little worried about the transition at school--I liked the older girls and was worried that so many new kids at once would be upsetting.  Turns out he loves it.  He's coming out of his shell a little, talking a lot more to his teacher, and just generally having fun.  Yay for Miss Maureen's!

All The Fun Stuff

Backlog of photos--none of them are anything new or different, but in case you're interested...

Adam's favorite thing at the playground is driving the car.

He also loves playing hide and seek with the curvy walls.

Mr. Glamor himself.
He loves his jammies--it's hard to convince him to get dressed.

He also loves his fan.  This (unplugged) tabletop fan is his new best friend.

In general, he's all about fans these days--we drive past windmills, watch YouTube videos of ceiling fans, turn our living room fans on and off.  At bedtime, instead of a story or song, Adam requests, "Talk about a fan."

He talks in mostly sentences now, or at least long phrases.  "Arf is a dog," "Go to the park," "Mama give piggy ride."  He has trouble with personal pronouns, though--he's convinced that "you" is synonymous with "Adam."  So "carry you" is a request we hear a lot, no matter how many times we explain how unlikely that is.

What else?  Feet in the sink, Elmo, counting, drawing fans, listening to the Monkees (All. The. Time.).  Eating voraciously, sleeping an extra half hour at night and naptime.  Helping with cleanup, going on the swings.  These are our adventures.  All the fun stuff.

Promised Updates

I tell you, the lectures I get on how rarely I post!  I'm sorry, Adoring Fans.  I just keep forgetting the camera!  But here are some of my favorites from a couple of weeks ago: Daddy and Adam reading a book.

And I'll get better.  I'm stocking up--watch this space!
